Salvatore Mirisola wins Prize

The "World Olympics of Olive Oil" is the Verona Fair, held in the spring of every year. At the urging of many fans, last year, Salvatore Mirisola entered his full-flavored extra virgin oil, for the first time, in this intense competition.

We are proud to announce that the oil was awarded the "Gran Menzione" Prize - equivalent to second price, in the competition for full flavored oils. It is as if Salvatore won the Silver Medal at the Olympics in his first major competition! More than 400 oils were in this category.

The award brought great recognition to the Mirisola family for their quality, and for their pioneering work with olive oil.

Congratulations to them!

Tito visited 26 stores on his recent visit to the USA.

Salvatore and Tito Mirisola work as a team making their great olive oil, in Riesi, Sicily.

During the fall of 2002, Tito visited a number of retailers and restaurants in the USA for "in store events" as well as for some incredible dinners prepared by some of the country's most innovative chefs. Special dinners were organized at 312 Chicago, in Chicago, Germano's in Cincinnati, The Kirby Grill, in Grand Haven, Michigan, and at Esther's in Provincetown, MA.

He visited 26 retailers in Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, New York, Connecticut and in Massachusetts.

More than 1000 people had the opportunity to sample the 2001 Mirisola oil in the stores, and more than 200 attended the special "olive oil dinners."

Tito was the special guest at a dinner organized by Don Newcomb, of "ChicaGourmet" in Chicago.

Though the trip was hectic, Tito had time to have two family reunions, hosted by his distant cousins Jerry and Marie Mirisola Antonellis, and by Charlie and Lisa Mirisola Fosdick in Massachusetts.
